Hi!
I’m a 16 y/o who’s been training powerlifting for almost a year, and now I think that I’m prepared to compete. I’m 4 weeks out of my first meet ever. Everything was going well, however, last week during a heavy sets of deadlifts, the area between the left glute and the ham (don’t really know if it’s the muscle or a nerve) started to bother me. I think that this happened because I didn’t put any safety pins and one of the discs moved away from the barbell. I couldn’t really squat nor deadlift after that (at least not correctly). My lifts were, at the time:
S:145kg(320lbs), D:140kg(308lbs), BP:95kg(210lbs)
I didn’t freak out. The same day I performed air squats. 4 days after (yesterday), I squatted 120kg (265lbs) for 1 rep with a wider stance and with no pain whatsoever. It felt amazing, but It didnt last long. I was going to squat 110kg for 5 reps, but at the 3rd rep, the “pain” came back.
Today, I squatted (high bar, because it hurts the least) 60kg 5x5. I think that this is progress.
So the actual problem is: i cannot squat heavy until the pain goes away. But I’m 4 weeks out of my first meet. Will my strenght decrease a lot these weeks If I keep on training like this? (I’ll try to add 10-20kg each week)
My bench is ok and still getting better, but I can’t improve my deadlift/squat.
