Should I eat less on off days?

I’m running Hypertrophy I on a slight deficit at the suggestion of Dr. Feigenbaum because I have a 41" waist at 5’8, currently 170 lbs. My weight loss has been very nice so far, down almost 4 lbs (weekly average) since starting a few weeks ago.

Since I live a very mechanical life in terms of activity—I do the same things, at the same times, practically every day, and my lifestyle is mostly sedentary because I am a full-time college student who doesn’t work—I was wondering if it would be beneficial for me in terms of recovery, hypertrophy and especially fat loss if I were to eat 150-200 calories less on my off days. I do nothing on my off days but sit and do school work, so very very little physical activity occurs on these days.

Thank you.

No need to do this, as your energy expenditure on rest days vs days you lift is nearly indistinguishable. That said, I would recommend trying to be active on most days via conditioning work in an effort to meet the physical activity guidelines.
