Straps with loops - can they be used? DIY straps?

Where I live (Ukraine), it seems that nobody knows how to use lifting straps without loops - everything sold online or in shops is with loops. I know that these are suboptimal since they tighten up on your wrists during the lift, but can I use them in the same manner as loopless? That is, just ignore the loop and wrap it around the bar.

I don’t have a used baby car seat and I don’t want to jeopardize my passengers’ safety by cutting theirs. I am, however, open to some DIY project?

I’ve got a pair with loops and they have worked fine for me.

I wouldn’t stress too much about the ones that do or don’t have loops on the end, they’re both fine. I prefer the ones without loops and they’re easy enough to make from nylon or polyester webbing that you should be able to buy cheaply from a hardware store, mountain climbing store, fabric store or whatever

You can also just tape the ends together if you don’t have a sewing machine. I think 24 inches per hand of 1.25 inch wide webbing is about perfect.
