Template Question

Hey guys, I am going to start the strengthlifting II template next week and I have some questions about it:

  1. I lift in a commercial gym and I have no access to bands or chains, so what variation can I do for the overload squat?
  2. Are split squat the same as bulgarian split squat or is it just a term for all unilateral squat variants and is it better to do them with barbells or dumbells?
  3. Sometimes there is a percentage range given(74-77% for instance), should you then take any weight in that range or should you take a fix percentage, let’s say 75% and then do that weight?

Thanks in advance

1.) Seems like a tough one, I’m assuming you also don’t have a safety squat bar either? Easiest solution is either get a new gym or buy some bands for yourself to use they are relatively cheap. Other than that I would suggest a pin squat.

  1. Bulgarian would be with an elevated back leg, regular split squat would be like a stationary lunge where you do your reps until complete and then return to a normal standing position. I would say for safety reasons to use dumbbells but that’s your choice.

  2. For the percentages I would start on the low end and if it still feels a bit to light go up, if anything it at least gives you more volume without overshooting.
