Hello Jordan, first I’d like to thank you for everything you’ve done for me up to this point. I got back into lifting December of last year after about a 5 year layoff. I weighed in at 250 at 6’ tall and had been mostly sedentary for the ~5 year layoff. I started with linear progression and within a couple of months changed to Barbell Medicine programming and have been progressing since the switch. My current weight is 193 lbs and my lifts are 285 bench, 405 squat, and 425 deadlift compared to 135, 185, 225 when I started in January (I trained for ~15 years prior to the layoff). I have started to incorporate strongman training into my routine and have found that I enjoy the change of pace. Are there any templates available that can be modified to incorporate strongman training? If not do you have a recommendation for an existing program? I’d like to stick with BBM programming if possible as it makes since to me. I’ve tried programming for strongman based on templates I’ve purchased and the volume seems to be higher than I can tolerate. Thank you for any advice - Steve

As far as strongman training, we’re working on a strongman template currently- which sounds like it will be right up your alley. That being said, I would probably do the Titan Template or General S/C template, but plug in strongman-specific conditioning work/skill work instead of doing the CrossFit or general conditioning work, respectively.

Thank you for the kind words and the recommendation. I purchased the General S/C template and will add strongman conditioning/skill work instead of the prescribed GPP. I also look forward to the strongman template, hopefully I can run it immediately after General S/C. Thanks again for the advice and all of the content you and your team produce!

I have completed the General S/C template with strongman skill/conditioning. Things are still coming along nicely, I pulled 500 on a frame and 455 conventional on Christmas and hit a 207 log at 198 lbs body weight. I’m going to try at least one strongman competition next year…there is one in May in Idaho that I will likely compete in. I need to start a new template, ideally with cleans as part of the programming. I’ve never been a huge fan of weightlifting but my press is finally starting to catch up with my clean and whether it’s an axle or barbell the clean has become my limitation. Would the Titan template with strongman skills for gpp be a good place to start? I figure I need to run a program for the next 8-10 weeks prior to focusing on the events specific to the competition.
