Hello,
I recently had a fracture in my 9th rib. I had a CT scan, and the doctor told me that there’s a crack in my 9th rib. In the beginning, it hurt even when I coughed. Over time, it has gotten better, but I still feel pain when I put pressure on that area.
My question is: Before this fracture, I was doing strength training. Right now, I’m only doing brisk walking while waiting for it to heal. When would it be appropriate to start strength training again, such as deadlifts and squats? What would you recommend?
Howdy! Been a minute since we’ve seen you. Good to have you here, though bummer it’s under this circumstance!
Between the concerns about giving someone who isn’t a patient medical advice via a forum, and not knowing the details of this specific injury or other important medical information, I will pivot to a cosplay answer.
If it were me, and my doctor did not express any concern over returning to exercise when I felt able to upon asking them this question, I would exercise to tolerance as soon as I could. I probably would skip wearing a belt, the weights would be lighter due to both the injury and not recently training, as well as the volume being reduced to start.
Thanks a lot doc. I’ve been a strict follower
Its rare to find such a quality content on the internet nowadays
Thanks for the kind words!
