After a year of a pretty infuriating plateau, I slowly gained 10 lbs over the past 5 months running a hypertrophy block and then 12 Week Strength. I’m just finishing Week 10, beginning to peak for my very first meet February 18th, and finally surpassing my old PR’s. Hallelujah.
I’m pretty eager to get back to hard training after the meet and put this plateau in binocular distance, continuing to slowly gain weight. But two weeks after the meet is spring break, during which I’m traveling to Arizona for climbing/hiking/visiting family, and training won’t be feasible.
What should I do with those two weeks after the meet? Start to train as I would normally with a hypertrophy cycle and then just pause the training during spring break? Am I overthinking it?
Additional info:
I went from 170 lbs to 180 lbs. My current body fat levels are not a concern. My old PR’s were 375/255/435, and in the past week I hit 385/275/445 with sub-maximal efforts. I may or may not have openly wept in the gym after these lifts. My goals are to continue to add pounds to my S/B/D.
