Why so much hate towards the block/rack pull

I have seen on social media lately some influencers, powerlifters and gymbros saying that the rack or block pull is a bad supplementary exercise for the deadlift. Reason being it removes the hardest part of the lift and that it changes your starting position to much from a standard off the floor deadlift. Some also labeling it as just a ego lift since you can lift more weight than with a standard deadlift.

I used the rack pull in powerbuilding 3 and found it to be great, i made good gains using it as an accesory. I’m starting strenght 3 template now and see it prescribed in block 1 and hope too see similar gains from it.

so in short is the rack/block pull really a “bad” exercise? Cause i personally like using, it is at the very least a fun exercise.

There are no inherently “bad” exercises; they are all just different tools with different applicability depending on the person and the goal.

You used it and “found it to be great”, “made good gains using it”, and “personally like using it”, finding it “a fun exercise” … so you have all the evidence you need to ignore what influencers, powerlifters, and gymbros might be saying online. Carry on!
