Hi guys, new to the forums. I just purchased the 12 week strength 2.0 and powerbuilding templates. I read in another post that the Powerlifting II has replaced the 12 Week Strength 2.0, is that correct? Happy to support Jordan and Austin so not worried about buying another program but want to make sure I’m getting their latest and greatest before diving into a 12 week program.
I don’t feel it’s dated at all. Ran it last winter and got stronger. It all depends on your goals but if this a new program to you, you’ll most likely get good progress from it and then you can cycle against powerbuilding, hypertrophy or powerlifting 2/strength 3. The biggest differences are going to be the secondary squat, bench and dead movements (SSB, belt squat, chains, bands, slingshot, etc.)
FWIW, this kind of stuff doesn’t necessarily get dated like software or eggs.
Sure, there may be small things they change with more data they’ve gathered or more experience, but really the templates are meant to try and help a very very wide swath of people reach their goal. Given that it’s not really individualized at all, your response is going to vary anyway so just run one and see what happens and go from there
I just bought Strength III (along with some other templates) and although there are quite some differences, I wouldn’t say it makes the 12wk Strength Template obsolete. Strength III also has some tools to easily change exercise slots and to choose between focussing on press or bench press. The guidelines in terms of reps/sets for the competition lifts are slightly different too. Reason for me to buy it was 1) Curiousity and 2) I want to do a cycle with focus on the overhead press instead of the bench press.
I’m currently running the ‘Old’ 12wk strength template for a second time, after a few months of self-created RTS-inspired stuff. I made some personal adjustments according to what I’ve learned from the first run and to some personal taste. I guess almost everyone does that. In my opinion you won’t waste your time by running it.
