Amazing Progress on Beginner Template and Hypertrophy I Question

Hello,

about 5 months ago I was confused and absolutely misguided with regards to training. I came to this forum hoping to understand what I was doing wrong and what program I could run. Dr Jordan Feigenbaum said that I should try the beginner template so I gave it a shot. I also tried to actively gain weight during this time (despite being a little on the chubbier side). 5 months later and I am the happiest person EVER. I’ve gotten so much stronger and my ability to gauge RPE has increased drastically. Here are some numbers.
SQ: 95kg e1RM —> 124kg e1RM (squatted 120kg today as a single and it moved smooth)
BP: 65kg e1RM —> 75kg e1RM (Benched 70kg and it moved like butter)
DL: 118kg e1RM —> 144kg e1RM (Deadlifted 140kg and it was a little slow off the floor, but got it regardless)
BW: 75kg—>82kg (may have gained a LITTLE too rapidly, but I’m planning on slowing down drastically)
Aesthetics: i definitely put on some muscle mass, but it’s kinda hard to see over some fat haha.
Wast Circumference: 33inches—>35 inches

I am so impressed with BBMs form of programming that I’m going to do Hypertrophy I now and redo Powerbuilding I.

Quick Question: is it fine if I just gain like 1 kilo of bodyweight during Hypertrophy I, I really don’t want to gain at the same rate as I did in the former program. Would I be able to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, provided my calories hover around maintenance?

to conclude, I would really like to thank this forum for The input on my training, I definitely learned to think long term. And I really owe this to BBM, who knows how much I would’ve been spinning my wheels had it not been for this community.

Great job, Sid! We love hearing this sort of stuff!

It is likely that you will gain some muscle and lose some fat while engaging in resistance training and eating at maintenance, though probably not if you gain a kilo or two. At that point, you’ll likely gain muscle and fat simultaneously, though you would gain more muscle than if at maintenance (likely).

I’d probably stick at maintenance for 4-6 weeks before entering a small surplus if you want to gain more.
