Battle ropes for HIIT?

Hi guys!

Just wanted to know your thoughts on battle ropes as a HIIT modality? I’m running PN1 right now with some success, and have used ropes for my HIIT sessions since my second run through The Bridge 1.0 (after becoming frustrated at how much sled work affected my lower body lifts).

Aside from being very tiring, I’m also getting a nice side/rear delt pump (with some fairly significant growth since I started), so I’m thinking it’s a win-win, but the FOMO is real - am I on the right track?

They’re okay, though I think they probably don’t use nearly as much muscle mass as some other modalities such as a sled pull or rowing.

You’re right there. In that case, is it worth doing any of the following?

a: Upping the duration per session
b: Reducing rest times
c: Increasing frequency

I don’t think so. I would just treat it as a conditioning variation

I’ll add battle ropes as additional stress on your core muscles. But I think it’s the wrong decision to put this equipment at the heart of your training. But, in any case, 20 minutes daily can make your core really stronger and can help you to burst more calories.
