Off-season For Endurance Athlete

I’m in Phase II of the Beginner Template right now, and would like to plan ahead for what template I should purchase next.

I enjoy doing everything from a 5k to a half marathon on a regular basis throughout the Spring/Summer/Early Fall. I am expecting to do the Endurance Template starting in Jan because it makes most sense to do that while ramping up to the coming running/triathlon season. However, that leaves a decent block of time to fill in the blank. I also do not plan on competing in strength sports, but enjoy the training.

I am wondering between the following templates:

  1. Hypertrophy I (to build strength and improve body composition… It would be nice to be ~12% body fat when starting out next running season so that I am not carrying extra weight)
  2. General Strength & Conditioning (sounds reasonable to continue to not specialize while in an off-season)
  3. PowerBuilding I (basically, get as big/strong as I can before focusing on endurance again. I could see this improving my speed due to the better strength)

If the hypertrophy went well you’d still be carrying the extra weight, it would just be muscle.

I think any of them would work for you, but if I were you I would maybe do powerbuilding because it will let you work on both strength and hypertrophy and you sound like you have both hypertrophy and strength goals.
