One Month Hiatus

What should I do after an unplanned hiatus of a month?

I’ve read PPSTv3, looked over the forums and couldn’t think of anything else, so I started LP on Monday at 20% below e1RM of my last workout. I’m healthy, male, 52 years in a week, 220 lbs, 6’1 1/2. Before the holidays I was 5 lbs heavier and my lifts were 370/340/200/143 for 1@8. Deadlift and Press were both PRs. I did Monday and Tuesday workouts of week 7 on the 12 wk BBM strength template, then missed 4 weeks solid. Monday went back to the novice LP tab of the 2017 fall templates. After the second workout my lifts are 275/250/155/100 for 3 sets of 5. RPE feels about like @8 across. I would be elated if this goes better than my first LP two years ago, but I’m not sure what to expect.

  1. Because my waist is 39 I’m okay with the weight loss. Am I on the right track to get started again and drop another inch or two from that?
  2. The only thing I’m sure about is that there’s probably no way to know for sure, but starting where I am, I’ll be at my previous e1rm in about a month. Should I keep adding weight as per spreadsheet?
  3. Should I be getting closer to RPE 9/10 like I did on novice LP or keep it closer to @8?
  4. How do I know when is it time to stop LP and move to the Bridge? Can I judge by RPE, fatigue?

I’d probably do another 2-3 weeks on the novice LP.

For the weight loss, I would be fine with that training and make sure you’re in a caloric deficit.

I think that it’s okay to go to RPE 9-9.5 given the volume constraints and your previous training. When things start to get to RPE 10 on some work sets or a miss, move on.

Great, just what I needed to hear, I’ll get to work. Thanks for responding so quickly. You guys are so great cutting through all the noise and b.s. to enlighten the nuanced path to GainzZz. The BBM Templates are fun and you, Leah and Austin are truly inspiring IGers, coaches and lifters.
