I have a meet coming up in the next couple of weeks and they just released the timeslots. I have a noon weigh in and I usually try to shoot for 2 pounds less than my weight class.
My question is how should I approach weigh in? I will certainly be close again in weight so I am nervous about eating/drinking how I normally would upon waking. But not eating also sounds like a bad idea. Any thoughts?
Yea, afternoon weigh-ins can be tough. Usually, I like people being ~ 1kg under in the AM and then they can eat/drink a little bit prior to weigh-ins. You’ll have to check your weight a few times to make sure you don’t over do it, but a bit of coffee, water, and a decent-sized breakfast usually work if you’re close on weight.
As far as how-to get there, would advise being at weight a few days out and then a low-residue diet for two days, e.g. a low fiber diet. In addition to removing fruits, veggies, whole grains, and legumes from the diet, I also limit nuts, seeds, and dairy during this time. I’d also might make the final meal the night before protein shake to give some more room.
