Sled Push/Pull for Conditioning

Hello BBM folk,

I’ve been working through some general knee pain, brought on by doing too much too soon on the C2 bike. Currently on the stair-stepper for cardio as it’s not causing any discomfort.

I would like to include sled pushes/pulls for more variety and have noted that Dr Feigenbaum recommends them as a conditioning modality. Just wondering how this could be programmed.

Thanks,

Alex

I would probably program these as both pushes and pulls, but at a walking pace to start (vs. runs or sprints). While you can do long sled pulls, e.g. 20 + min of a rucking-type effort, I think shorter, submaximal bouts are probably a better entry point. Thing 20-30 seconds of moderate effort with 90-120s rest in between. Since you’re not sprinting yet, I’m not worried about long rest periods to completely recover between efforts. The weight should be relatively heavy, such that the 20-30 second bout feels ~ RPE 6-7 or so to start. Start with ~15 minutes of this and see how you do. You can progress from there.
