Hello BBM Team,
I’m hoping for your 0.02 on how you’d potentially add in an Olympic lift variation to the train every day time crunch template (or any other variation of this template). I’ve been running General S&C II with the EMOM set up, however would love some input as to whether that is a valid tool for this template set up or which exercise slot it may fit into. My assumption would be putting this in slot “B” on one of the lifting days, while cutting out slot “D”, but please correct me if I’m wrong.
Obviously would love to continue to fit in more training rather than less, but life circumstances have been stealing from training resources (time, sleep/recovery) and may need to switch to this template for a beat. I would like to keep Olympic variations involved, mostly due to personal enjoyment in training. Open to any and all thoughts.
Thanks!
For including Olympic lifts into the time crunch template, I would do the following:
- On day 1: do a snatch variation as the first exercise. Keep the rest of the workout the same, save for deleting the third exercise (a hinge movement)
- On day 3: Do a clean variation as the first exercise. Keep the rest of the workout the same.
- On day 4: I’d favor a push press, power jerk, or similar as the first exercise.
The EMOM programming works, though I would want to change that over successive blocks, as well as the exercise variants. Something like:
Block 1: Power snatch x 2 EMOM x 10, start at 60% 1RM and add weight every 2 successive makes
Block 2: Snatch high pull + snatch + OHS x 2 x 6 (non EMOM) wave loading throughout block based on percentages
Block 3: Snatch x 2 x 7, work up to heavy double and then back off sets that are wave loaded throughout block
Hopefully this is helpful. If you prefer to iterate on the templates vs 1-on-1 coaching, we are available for consultation to help fine-tune it to your liking. Reach out at support@barbellmedicine.com
