I´m doing my first powerlifting meet in 2 weeks time and I’m thinking what training should be like the week after. Should i run a low stress week or should I be doing even lower intensity than that? I´m running strength 3 and I´m going to run it again when i get back to training after the meet, my question is if i should do it right away after the meet or take it super slow the week after. Many thanks ![]()
If a person did a lot of dedicated training leading up to a meet and then did the meet, I typically like to see a big change in programming. This would include:
- Lower intensity
- More exercise variation
- More conditioning
- More isolation exercises
I’d run something like that for ~ 4-6 weeks for a post meet block unless there was another meet coming up in short succession. As far as programs we offer, I’d be looking at the bodybuilding 1 program for this application.

Ok I think I will do something like that then. Would something like this also be recommended between powerlifting blocks when not competing in a meet?
Take it easy the first week. Low intensity, focus on recovery before jumping back into normal training.
